September 28

OK its been a few days since I've had time to edit photos but I wanted to get these out to a couple my wife and I met on the beach on saturday 27 which by the way was our 28 anniversary.
Watching their little girl reminded me of our three now grown up and away. I have to admit a part of me wished I could turn back the clock a few years. Waiting on grand babies is our next great adventure. Any way here is a few pics of Paul and his daughter. Enjoy and God bless you two raising your daughter.

September 22

Today I met up with an old photography friend Jeff Jones who I have not seen in a while, so we headed for Pea Island. Weather was a bit nasty but we were able to spot about 12 or so different species including a few Snow Geese, 4 Marble Godwits, and a small flock of Avocets so not all was lost.
Then we headed back and stopped in Bodie Island Lighthouse to check it's pond. The light became a little better for photos. Saw many egrets, ibis, tri-coloreds, and a little blue heron and a raccoon hunting the edge of the marshes. All in all a fun session outside on a damp day.
Here is my shots of the raccoon and the little blue.

September 11

I decided to post this picture in monochrome after looking back on some old shots I took in the early 80's of these horses. This particular
shot I like for two reasons. One the angle of the subject and two the nice soft light on the top of his mane. Sometimes I think these horses know how to pose and give you that extra moment to capture your shot.
My first sighting of these horses now known as the Wild Horses of Corolla was sometime in the early winter of 1980 roaming thru Corolla down as far a Duck, but now they are confined to the northern beaches only. Today as I was shooting the herd many 4x4's loaded with paying customers came by snapping off frame after frame hanging out the windows. I even saw an old short bus converted into a giant high rise 4x4 full of glaring eyes and foreheads pressed against the windows. I had to laugh because it reminded me of Jurassic Park the movie; The mood was set flooded back roads, it was almost tropical!!
Well for the time being you can still find them on your own and get a photo or two, just be kind to them and slow down.

September 2

" Times they are a changing". I do believe that was and old song by Bob Dylan. Any way here on the Outer Banks storm season is brewing giving a new since of life or better yet a blood transfusion to you guessed it SURFERS. As of today we have three yes three named storms making their presence known in the Atlantic. With the winds blowing out of the northeast it's a road trip to Frisco.
Todays temp 85 deg. sunny and offshore conditions at the pier. Waves were a bit small chest to head high but still keeping to the south ends reputation, " barrels were the norm". Hey a short note for all who come to surf BE COOL to the fisherman on the pier they are paying customers. As usual there always seem to be a few bad eggs in the carton stinking it up. You know who you are so give it a break.
Snapped off a few photos of whoever was out, if you see yourself or recognize  them give me a shout. Hey Nathan, it was cool meeting you and talking photo lingo also here is one of your waves for a small taste, hope you like it. Nathan is a surf video shooter check him out he's got the equipment! http://www.freedomridingco.com
Shooting good surf shots is an art as is any other style of photography in which I'm still learning. You must know your subject , know your camera because it's sport photography and it moves quick, tripod is a must, and use the natural light of the day to your advantage. Oh ya a nice telephoto lens is big.
Well it's the end of the day and I've been editing a lot of pics, here is four for now. Lets hope the swells keep rolling north, hometown Kitty Hawkers need some too.
