Wood Ducks
The Wood Duck
These ducks have got to be the most colorful of all the duck species. They also have proven to be very hard to photograph in the wild. After three different days and countless hours I've finally mustard up these two shots. Not only were they far away but also in the woods, who would have
guessed a wood duck in the woods. To get these two I had to stand in a foot of water and shooting thru maybe an 18 inch slot in the trees hoping they would make a pass. Making it even harder the light had to be just right to expose them properly. Anyway this is the results for now, I will continue trying to figure out a better way to locate them in the open for a better result hopefully.

October 23
Now after my commercial assignment on Tuesday the 22nd I left and headed westward in pursuit to locate and shoot a known Bald Eagle site (with camera of course), little did I know I would happen upon a little luck or Blessing which I prefer. Driving along side an earlier harvested corn field I noticed on the far side a small creature at a very far distance. Much to my surprise a young bear cub had an afternoon desire to snack before dinner time. Hey BOO BOO I think I smell a picnic basket!!
I now had to figure a mode of seek and shoot without the young one or his MAMA wherever she might be lurking finding me first. Needless to say I just pursued without thought. Why do you ask? Because I'm a wildlife photographer and that's just what we do!!
Here is a little sequence of what I saw at a very close range of 40 feet.
** photos loaded backwards** sorry about that
** Only eagle shot I could get **

October 16th
Today was a fun day getting to shoot some morning shots which included sunrise in pea island and a little wildlife during the morning light. The only down side was the blood sucking mosquitoes !! by the thousands, ok at least in the hundreds and that is no joke.
Ran into some nice folks while at the north pond which is beginning to show some nice signs of the fall season bird migrations.
The full moon was perfect just before sunrise giving a nice view of it's surface. I really think this time of day makes shooting the moon nicer than at sunset. Also the Egrets and others where much friendlier than usual allowing me a much closer range than earlier in the season
