This photo of an American Oyster Catcher shows the NC green band #71 taken on Monday 18th of August. The oyster catcher is being monitored by USGS at NC State and has been reported for verification. I took this photo at the south end of Oregon Inlet near the rock jetty. This bird was with another AOC that had no tag.

Cool photo. I banded this bird as a chick on Cape Lookout National Seashore (North Core Banks) in July 2004. This bird has been observed near Oregon Inlet in the 2006, 2007 and 2008 breeding seasons, but we have no nest record yet. American Oystercatchers typically acquire a breeding territory around age 4 or 5, so this bird will probably nest next year if it has not already.
